I hope you enjoy the photos. I am a lifelong photographer. My older brother gave me a camera when I was about 10 years old. The camera took terribly out of focus images, but I was soon hooked on photography. I bought my first 35mm camera when I was a junior in high school, and I have been taking pictures more or less continuously ever since. I spent more than I could really afford for a SLR camera while I was an undergraduate in college. When I finally finished school and had a regular paycheck, I bought a much nicer camera with multiple lenses. Then autofocusing cameras came along and I upgraded my system again. Next came digital photography. I resisted going digital for a long time, because the early digital images lacked the quality of film images. When my sister-in-law asked me to photograph her daughter's wedding, I gave in and bought my first digital camera. I liked the ability to immediately view the images. Now that affordable digital cameras have the ability to record high-quality images, my film cameras reside in the back of my closet.
My interest in bird photography started about two years ago after I had eye surgery for cataracts. After my eye surgery I discovered a whole world of objects that I had never really seen before.

For the bird pictures, I tried to include several poses where possible, but for some species I have a limited selection of photos to choose from. Photo quality for some species is lower than for others, but I hope to upgrade the lower quality photos if and when I obtain better shots. I currently have shots of about 414 species of birds on this website. I have attempted to identify the birds to the best of my ability, but I am sure some may be mislabeled. I don't consider myself a world class expert at bird identification. Please feel free to point out obvious mistakes in identification. The 'Pop Art' image of me is by my granddaughter.

I want to thank the viewers for their kind comments on the photos.
